How to Choose the Right Candle for Every Room in Your Home

candle for every room

There is a process to choosing a candle scent complementary to a particular room in your home.

Choosing the Right Candle for Every Room

We have designed some fragrances that may work for you and Southern Oak Artisan candles that correspond to your specific needs.

Let’s look at some options.

Bathroom – Fresh & Clean

  • Best Scents: Eucalyptus, Lavender, Citrus, Peppermint, or Sea Salt
  • Why? You want your bathroom to have a spa-like feel and scent. Clean, odor-eliminating, and fresh scents work perfectly. Think about nature and the outdoors when choosing a fragrance. Heavy and highly sweet scents won’t work here. They are too overpowering for such a room.

Suggestions:

  • Celadon Summer is a fragrance that combines summer fruits such as cucumber and melons, which are associated with summer and the growth of a fresh garden.
  • Furr-esh – an odor-eliminator that works well in a bathroom. It has a light, refreshing fragrance that is perfect for places where you want a fresh, clean scent. It also works in a laundry room.
  • Lavender Fields – There is no better fragrance for a bathroom. The subtle scent of sweet lavender evokes a feeling of calm and peace. Bathtime with lavender sets up a great night’s sleep.

Kitchen – Warm & Inviting

  • Best Scents: Lemon, Basil, Vanilla, Cinnamon, or Herbal Blends
  • Why? The kitchen is family. It’s the heart of the home where aromas invite feelings of togetherness, good food, and good company. This is where we cook our meals; as such, candles should not overpower the aroma of the prepared food. Just as we don’t want a scented candle on a dinner table, we don’t wish to have florals, wood, and perfume scents in our kitchen. We want to complement the food with fruit, herbs, and spices.

Suggestions:

  • Morning Brew – this is a must-fragrance if you like coffee. It’s an excellent accompaniment to a morning breakfast.
  • Sir Isaac – the scent is a pure apple-scented candle. Baking? You can’t go wrong with this fragrance.
  • You can try one of our new fragrances – Orange Blossom. It’s a wonderful citrus scent that is the essence of spring. It’s a renewal and warm sunshine. It is the perfect scent for preparing your freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.

Bedroom – Relaxing & Comforting

  • Best Scents: Lavender, Chamomile, Sandalwood, Amber, or Soft Florals
  • Why? The bedroom should be a retreat. Fragrances should project a feeling of coziness, soothing, and comforting. This is a great place to practice Hygge. You need to use a calming yet inviting scent that feels like you’re ready to read a book or calm before sleep.

Suggestions:

  • Emanation – this is an exotic scent that is sometimes used in incense. It is a traditional Indian fragrance that combines the earthy blend of exotic spices and sandalwood. It is often used in yoga or meditation for its calming and grounding effects. This is a great one for the bedroom.
  • Lavender Fields – a commonly used fragrance for calming and peaceful vibes. Lavender is used in soaps, shampoos, perfumes, and laundry detergents. I could go on and on. Its properties are a proven fragrance designed to soothe everyone.
  • Wood Nymph – this is by far our most popular fragrance. Saffron has a distinct, slightly sweet, and earthy scent with a hint of floral and leathery notes, while cedarwood adds a dry, resinous, and grounding woodiness—a combination of the rich spiciness of saffron with the woodiness of cedarwood.
  • Alchemy – stay with me now. This is one of those fragrances you love or hate. Patchouli. I know it is associated with the 60s, but it’s a fragrance that has been around for centuries. It has deep, woody, and slightly sweet notes with hints of spice. It’s grounding and exotic. It has calming and sensual properties, dare I say, for the bedroom!

Living Room – Warm & Welcoming

  • Best Scents: Woodsy Notes (Cedarwood, Pine, or Oak), Vanilla, Cashmere, or Musk
  • Why? The living room is a gathering place where we want to create a sense of social and cozy. It should be inviting yet comfortable or lived in, so to speak. The scent should be inviting but not overpowering. Wood notes create a cozy ambiance, while musk or vanilla adds warmth without being too heavy. A touch of spice (like a hint of cinnamon or clove) can also make the space feel homey.

Suggestions:

  • We go back to the obvious…Wood Nymph. Its notes of saffron and cedarwood give you a rich and exotic scent that is not only a spicy fragrance but also one that injects an exotic vibe into the atmosphere.
  • Euphoria – is a vibrant fragrance derived from the resin of the agarwood tree. It is a woody, earthy, and smoky fragrance with a hint of sweetness. This is a fragrance associated with calming and grounding. We could all use that, right?
